When spring calls, ditch the sofa and head outdoors!
The sky is blue, the sunshine’s warm, the birds are chirping – you know what that means: it’s time to get outside! Springtime in Parsberg offers one thing above all: endless ways to explore. Whether you fancy walking, canoeing, or cycling, in Parsberg you can pair each with a healthy dose of culture. Altmühltal offers a range of exciting destinations that are perfect for half-day or full-day spring adventures.
A highlight of your spring holiday is sure to be the Altmühltal Nature Park. Sweeping landscapes, pale Jurassic limestone cliffs, and beautiful valleys shape the scenery. Here you’ll find space to breathe deeply and enough variety for a fresh adventure every day of your visit. The Altmühl River meanders peacefully through the nature park, creating perfect conditions for relaxed outdoor excursions.
If you’re heading out on foot, the Altmühltal Panorama Trail is your ticket to spectacular views. This roughly 200-kilometre trail runs from Gunzenhausen to Kelheim, taking you past dramatic rock formations, historic towns, castles, and palaces, not to mention remnants of Roman and Celtic history. You’re guaranteed stunning views along the way.
If you’d rather be on the water, try canoeing down the Altmühl River and drift gently downstream at eye level with nature. The roughly 120-kilometre canoe route between Gunzenhausen and Dietfurt/Töging is perfect for beginners, families, and those who prefer to go with the flow.
Is cycling more your style? The Altmühltal Cycle Route, one of Germany’s finest cycling paths, won’t disappoint. 166 kilometres long, it traces the peaceful Altmühl River through the nature park, treating you to views of limestone crags, juniper-dotted heaths, and lush riverside meadows along the way.
The long and short of it? Our hotel in Parsberg places you right in the heart of spring. Get outside, explore, and soak it all up. Then finish your day with a sundowner back at the hotel – you’ve more than earned it.
