These secret spots could quickly become your new favourites!

From rocky cliffs and timber-framed houses to castle walls and blooming meadows, the Upper Palatinate hides secret gems just waiting to be uncovered. Here, we’ve gathered our favourite insider tips for nature lovers, culture aficionados, and anyone in search of peaceful moments.

We begin with Amberg, a cultural gem steeped in history. The town enchants with perfectly preserved city walls, cobbled lanes, fairytale towers, and timeworn gates. Tucked within this medieval maze lies a delightful attraction: the Eh’häusl, the world’s smallest hotel. In a bygone era, owning property was a prerequisite for marriage, so one enterprising soul built a house with just two walls. Problem solved.

Craving nature? Parsberg is your playground. The trails here twist through hills and rocks, inviting you to explore the region’s wilder side. Three nearby peaks offer hikes along forested slopes and rocky outcrops – some paths romantic, others bewitching. Beneath the treetops, you’ll feel like a true tracker on the trail of something magical. The majestic structure of Parsberg Castle perches high above, dominating the landscape. A visit here is doubly rewarding, offering fairytale views from the tower and fascinating insights inside the castle museum – in short, a rich dose of culture on your journey in search of unforgettable moments.

When it’s time to unwind, our hotel offers the perfect retreat. Even the shyest deer would be lured from hiding by our cosy relaxation spaces: comfy nooks, hanging loungers with sweeping views, and swinging chairs perfect for unwinding. The goal? Absolutely nothing – just rest. Step outside into our garden, the hotel’s largest “relaxation room”. Go barefoot in the grass, chase a few sunbeams, or doze off under the open sky.

In the Upper Palatinate, favourite places abound – from cultural gems to natural wonders and serene hideaways. We can’t wait to welcome you!
