This winter, Regensburg and the surrounding area are bursting with cultural highlights. You’re guaranteed to find something you’ll love!
If you’re on the lookout for cultural treasures beyond Parsberg, nearby Regensburg is your perfect destination. The city is home to Germany’s best-kept medieval old town and holds UNESCO World Heritage status. Between its sparkling lights, festive music, and quiet moments, you’ll uncover cultural gems at every turn – from captivating art to awe-inspiring experiences. Best of all, a comfortable 30-minute train ride takes you straight from our hotel to the heart of the old town.
Regensburg’s Christmas markets are a must-visit for all lovers of Christmas magic. The Gräflicher Christkindlmarkt in Dörnbergpark casts its romantic spell from 20 November to 21 December. But that’s just the beginning. From 21 November to 23 December, Thurn and Taxis Castle offers an especially atmospheric setting. Meanwhile, Neupfarrplatz and the Spitalgarten at Katharinenspital general hospital invite you to bask in their classic Advent ambience.
A true insider tip for art lovers is the Lucrezia Market (28 November to 23 December) – a paradise of handmade crafts, featuring unique jewellery, sculptures, soaps, candles, and one-of-a-kind pieces.
And you won’t want to miss the Infinity light and video show at the Minoritenkirche, from 28 November to 7 February 2026. The Zurich-based artist collective Projektil will be turning the church nave into a universe of sound, colour, and motion – a feast for all the senses.
If you prefer a more contemplative pace, follow the ecumenical nativity trail “Regensburg follows the star”, which is in place from 29 November to 6 January 2026. Intricately crafted nativity scenes from around the world tell their stories throughout the old town.
And for big moments in music and entertainment, December delivers. The world-famous Domspatzen, the Regensburger Weihnachtszirkus, and the Traumfabrik Show Theatre are not to be missed.
So, take aim at your next cultural destination – and make it a hit!
