Get fit for spring

Prepare for your first spring hike

Your hiking boots are calling! With these exercises, you’ll swiftly regain your fitness for your first spring hike!

Spring has arrived once again, and it’s time to answer the call of the outdoors. Your hiking boots are eager to explore the fresh air! However, before hiking in Germany, especially in the beautiful Upper Palatinate, it’s wise to prepare your body with some basic exercises:

  • Balance: Hiking trails can be rocky and uneven. Enhance your balance and coordination by incorporating simple practices into your daily routine, such as standing on one leg while brushing your teeth. With practice, you might even manage this with your eyes shut!
  • Stamina: During the colder months, it is tempting to opt for the comfort of the car. Challenge yourself to walk more instead.
  • Leg strength: To avoid sore muscles the day after a hike, engage in exercises like squats, lunges, and leg lifts to strengthen your legs.
  • Back strength: Hiking with a rucksack can be taxing on your back. Exercises such as the all-fours position or planking with alternating arm and leg stretches are excellent for strengthening your back muscles.

We hope you enjoy these exercises and look forward to sharing our hiking recommendations with you soon at the Romantik Hotel Hirschen!
